Windows, metal, wood… Here are tips for removing scratches from all surfaces! We cannot assure you that this will erase them and make your item look like new. If the cuts are deep, these products will probably not be enough. This will be more useful for removing scratches and superficial traces linked to wear, for example, than for removing deep scratches. However, this can help keep your object in good condition and give it a new lease of life.

Remove scratches from glass surfaces

– You can use toothpaste if it does not present any granules and if it is not whitening. To do this, apply it with a cotton pad (a microfiber or soft felt-type cloth) using circular movements for 10 seconds. Then rinse with water.

– You can do the same with Vaseline or vegetable oil. Note, however, that the effect will be temporary.

– Also, you can make a paste made from water and baking soda or apply cigarette ash on a damp cloth. Then, rub the small imperfections on the scratched surface.

– The clay stone (also nicknamed white stone or silver stone) is used on several surfaces: glass, metal, plastic… Simply rub the scratches with it in little eights.

– Finally, think about polish for windshields and car windows. Just follow the instructions carefully!

Fade scratches on wooden surfaces

– To erase small defects on a floor, wooden furniture or a wooden table, rub them gently with a walnut kernel. This is ideal for small areas.

– Another unusual idea for erasing scratches: use mayonnaise against small cracks ! Apply it to each crack, remove the excess then leave for 2 to 3 days. This will cause the wood to swell, allowing the scratches to be filled.

– Finally, you can apply iodine after dilution in water.

Regardless of the product used in this list, always finish with a coat of special wood varnish to even out the damaged area after treating the small scratches.

Removing scratches from plastic surfaces

– Products for polish plastics car can be useful here.

– However, you can also use what you have at home. For example, it is possible to do heat the plastic with a hair dryer on hot air. Start with medium warm air and increase if necessary. This will make the plastic malleable! Wait 10-15 minutes and try to smooth it with your fingers.

– Is the groove thick and catches the nail? So try to sand with very fine sandpaper (800 to 1,500 or even 2,000 grains). Fold it in thirds for precision and wet it so that it is less abrasive and leaves too much dirt when sanding. Use small circular motions and wipe regularly.

Eliminate scratches on metal surfaces

– On a stainless steel sink or on metal surfaces, repairs are similar to those used on car bodies. A damp cloth soaked in cigarette ashes or clay stone could therefore do the trick. Then wipe with a damp cloth to rinse.

– Same method as for glass, you can also rub the scratches with toothpaste. This time, choose whitening: its gentle abrasive effect will smooth scratches on the metal.

– Sometimes it is also possible to rub gently with a block for filing nails.

– Leather repair wax is often the only method to save your scratched sofa or jacket.

– However, if the scratch is barely visible, you can use products you have at home, including baby oil or vegetable oil of your choice. Rub the mark with cotton soaked in a few drops of oil using a circular motion. Let dry, wipe and repeat if necessary.

– If you have, you can also camouflage the scratch with a varnish of the same color as the leather.
