White lingerie is very appreciated for its soft, refined and timeless appearance. It is also a fresh color which generally suits all skin tones, but which can quickly turn yellow, become grayish or become blotchy, particularly as a result of sweat or poor maintenance. White then loses all its charm! Discover two recipes for cleaning white lingerie and keeping (or regaining) a bright white on your underwear, but also on your t-shirts.
To do this, no need for bleach which yellows the linen and can damage fragile textiles. Grandma always has ideas for finding an effective alternative to this product!
Basic tips for white lingerie
- Never wear your white underwear with dark clothing to avoid discoloration.
- Choose a good deodorant that does not leave marks and let it dry well before putting on your lingerie.
- Do not machine wash them with colored clothes and opt for a special product for white clothes.
- In all cases, favor hand washing.
1) A quick and simple recipe
What you need:
Two liters of hot water (but not too much so as not to gray the white)
3 tablespoons (45 g) baking soda
2 tablespoons (30 g) salt
1 tablespoon of laundry powder
The steps:
1) Start by dissolving all the ingredients in water.
2) Let your underwear soak in it for 15 to 30 minutes.
3) Wash by hand, rubbing the stains gently.
4) Rinse with clean water and leave to dry (but never on a radiator… otherwise beware of stains!).
2) The perfect standard recipe for white lingerie
What you need:
6 liters of hot water (but not too much)
6 tablespoons (90 g) soda
2 tablespoons (30 ml) hydrogen peroxide (or hydrogen peroxide)
2 tablespoons (30 g) ammonia
The steps:
1) Put on rubber gloves and find a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling the vapors.
2) You can then incorporate all your ingredients into the water.
3) Soak your white underwear for three hours then wash by hand (always with your gloves of course).
4) Rinse well and let dry.
Other steps to whiten white lingerie:
You can remove it with Marseille soap which is an excellent stain remover and dry it in the sun for a whitening effect. You can also slip a sachet of baking powder into the drum of the washing machine or the detergent drawer to whiten it. Otherwise, other options consist of soaking it for at least 1 hour in a basin of boiling water with soda crystals. Otherwise, use sodium percarbonate (also known as sodium percarbonate).
