2 Techniques for Treating Poop Stains on Baby Clothes

Save it for later!

Despite our precautions, our little babies can still find a way to stain their clothes with poop. In this case, the best thing to do is to act quickly by rinsing thoroughly, scrubbing and treating the stain. But we cannot always act immediately and that is when the stain sets in more lastingly, leaving not very graceful marks. To treat those poop stains before putting those delicate clothes in the washing machine, we have two solutions to offer you!

1) The solar method… the most magical against poop stains!

Generally speaking, you can use any technique to remove poo stains (water, soap, etc.) and combine it with exposing the clothing to the sun for a few hours! You can even display a garment straight out of the machine while it’s still damp. But for foolproof effectiveness on an old stain that won’t go away, for example, wet the garment and coat the stain with lemon juice. Put everything on a drying rack under the bright sun. After a few hours, the stain should be gone. If necessary, rinse the lemon juice with water and put it back in the sun for a bit.

2) With your good old dishwashing detergent

If the sun is not shining, the first technique is not possible against poop stains! You can then turn to dishwashing liquid. Wet the garment, brush it with product and rub the fabric on itself. Rinse and repeat until you get a good result. For more effectiveness, you can also use a mixture of equal parts dishwashing detergent and hydrogen peroxide (do a test in an inconspicuous corner to make sure it will not stain the fabric). Leave it on for a few hours or overnight.
