7 Remarkable Tips to Make Ironing Quick and Easy

Save it for later!

Ironing, we like it or we don’t like it. Some people would give anything to never have to touch an iron and always find a way to get by until the day a wedding or other important event forces them to do it! It must be said that this task is repetitive and tiring, especially when you are ironing the laundry for the whole house or when difficult folds undermine your motivation. Quickly adopt these few tips for quick, easy ironing… and therefore more pleasant!

1) If you have a dryer, take advantage of it!

A few minutes in this device are enough to tame the creases. Moisten the parts to be treated or add a few ice cubes or a damp cloth to the dryer to create steam thanks to the heat and let everything run for a few minutes. Speaking of steam, you can also hang a t-shirt on a hanger in the bathroom so the steam from the shower smooths out the wrinkles without any effort on your part.

2) Moisten clothes

When steam appliances did not exist, it was common for our mothers and grandmothers to dampen clothes, roll them up and freeze them overnight for ultra-quick and efficient ironing the next day! Along the same lines, you can spray the garment with water before ironing so that moisture helps reduce wrinkles effortlessly. And if you feel like it, you can prepare a starchy ironing liquid to make your actions more efficient and obtain impeccable shirts in particular. Against a crease that is resisting, spray white vinegar… The smell will not stay and neither will the crease!

3) Adopt the right actions

The ideal is not to leave clothes in a ball for too long in the washer or dryer. As soon as the cycle ends, shake the clothes to relax the fibers and prevent creases from setting in. Finally, don’t hesitate to put the clothes on hangers to dry so that gravity does all the work for you! This works especially well for summer shirts, tops and dresses.

4) Do the ironing in order

Start by ironing delicate clothes or those that won’t require too much work, then move on to more sturdy or wrinkled clothes. The iron will then be very hot and will work more efficiently. Plus, you won’t have to wait for it to cool down in the middle of ironing to make fragile clothes, because you will have treated them from the start.

5) Don’t iron in circles

The circles can deform the fibers over time and therefore change the shape of the garment or harm its durability. Replace the circles with long parallel straight lines that all go in the same direction to respect the fabric. This is even more important for a delicate garment!

6) Take care of your iron

To iron properly, carefully maintain each element as we explained to you here. This requires, for example, a good cleaning of the sole, especially when it shows signs of burning. A magic eraser can be used for regular basic maintenance. You can also descale the device very easily (always check the instructions so as not to make a mistake).

7) Don’t forget the board

We always think about having an excellent iron, but the board is also important and we don’t see how to get good ironing with a deformed or damaged board! A well-chosen board and a quality cover should not be neglected… The good tip is to put aluminum foil between the board and the cover to effectively return heat and reduce ironing time.
