9 remedies for dark spots

Save it for later!

Anyone of a certain age can see these benign, but unsightly spots appear over time. Unfortunately, the appearance of spots is favored by exposure to the sun without sun protection. This explains in particular why they develop on the areas most exposed to the sun such as the face, neckline and even the hands. In pregnant women, the pregnancy mask is reminiscent of age spots. Applying sunscreen before sun exposure is therefore the first step to avoid all these small pigment spots. So, here are 9 simple and 100% natural remedies to reduce brown spots on the skin.

Repeat these treatments every week on each brown spot. Regularity is the best way to remove spots without using pulsed light at your dermatologist.

1) Fresh lemon juice

It is one of the most basic remedies and is very effective against unsightly dark spots. Its citric acid is in fact a natural whitening agent that helps exfoliate the skin and reduce spots. Simply apply it twice a day, every day and leave it on for at least 30 minutes. This can be tight and unpleasant on the skin, be aware… Improvements will be seen over the weeks. Be careful, the lemon will make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Therefore, prefer to do this treatment in the evening and use a good SPF on the treated areas the following days.

2) Apple cider vinegar

It naturally contains AHAs that will reduce sun and age spots. Mix it with olive oil so that the skin feels smooth and soft after 20 minutes of break. There may be some redness or tightness, this is normal, but If your skin is very sensitive, you can dilute the mixture with a little water.

3) Onion juice

Its sulfide is an excellent antiseptic and the acids it contains facilitate skin exfoliation. If your skin can’t stand lemon, onion is a great replacement. Simply rub a slice of onion on the area two or three times a day. You can also mix one tablespoon of onion juice and two of honey and apply this to the area to be treated. Leave on for 15 minutes before rinsing well so that the smell goes away. Do this once or twice a day.

4) Horseradish

The vitamin C it contains reduces the production of melanin which causes skin pigmentation. Its glucosinolates improve circulation and are excellent antioxidants. A few times a week, you can make a paste to apply directly to the skin and leave it on for 15 or 20 minutes before rinsing. Another possibility would be to grate 10 cm of horseradish, mix this with 60 ml of cider vinegar and leave the mixture in a bottle for two weeks without touching it. Then squeeze everything and apply this with a cotton pad 3 times a day for a month.

5) Papaya

She is rich in enzymes and AHAs which exfoliate the skin and reduce age spots, blemishes and other skin problems. There skin will be clearer and luminous with this fruit which is a bit like the Swiss army knife of exotic remedies for the skin. You can apply it in two ways: remove a thin strip of skin and rub the flesh of a green papaya on the spots for a quarter of an hour. Alternatively, puree the flesh and apply this as a daily mask to the skin for 15 minutes before rinsing.

We advise you to test papaya on skin to check that you do not have allergies (we don’t want to replace brown spots with itchy red spots…). However, this also applies to other stain remedies that you may have never used before.
