The kitchen is certainly one of the rooms in the house where the limescale problem is the most annoying (along with the bathroom of course!). Stubborn white stains are indeed everywhere and add to the usual dirt. It must be said that many household appliances run on water. And like all surfaces exposed to hard water, our kettles, coffee makers and other washing machines can end up becoming scaled, which can prevent them from working properly. Fortunately, with the right ecological household products, you can completely get rid of scale without making the slightest effort. So, quickly find out how to descale everything in your kitchen.
Above all, do not wait for the deposits to become encrusted. Carry out these tips regularly with the recommended cleaning products to keep your kitchen clean.
1) Descale the kitchen faucets
Faucets are in constant contact with water, so they need frequent cleaning. Rub them with a slice of lemon or a toothbrush soaked in the juice of this citrus fruit. The acidity of this food will remove scale and make the beautiful metallic gray of your installations shine.
2) Descale your coffee maker
The coffee machine can quickly become full of limescale. To remedy this, simply fill your tank with 4/5 water and 1/5 white vinegar. Then start the coffee brewing and stop the machine when half of the water has run out. Leave for 10 minutes and pour off the rest. Leave for 10 more minutes, then restart the machine at least twice in a row, this time with just water in order to rinse the tank and the components exposed to the vinegar. This will avoid leaving a sour taste during your next coffee run.
3) Descale the kettle
Mix equal parts water and white vinegar in the kettle and bring the water to a boil. Then, leave this natural anti-limescale product on for 30 minutes before rinsing carefully at least twice with clean water. For the next few times, remember to remove the stagnant water that you will not use after each use and add a clean oyster or mussel shell to the bottom of the appliance to prevent scaling of the resistances.
4) Descale the washing machine
Limescale is as bad for the washing machine as it is for clothes. To keep your washing machine in good condition, it is recommended to use a little white vinegar with each wash. It perfectly replaces softener and don’t worry: it poses no danger to the joints. You can also add vinegar when cleaning the machine. In this case, don’t skimp on the quantities (minimum half a bottle)! You can also run a vacuum machine at 90°C with eight tablespoons of citric acid for descaling and deep cleaning.
5) Clean and descale the kitchen sink effortlessly
To get rid of limescale stains on a sink without rubbing, the best technique is simply to soak a cloth in white vinegar. You can possibly heat it before using it. Afterwards, put this wet cloth in the sinkespecially on stained areas. Then leave it on for a while before rinsing and drying. You can also prepare a spray with hot water and lemon juice or vinegar to spray, then scrub with a non-abrasive sponge. This will allow this scaled surface to be scrubbed and sanitized and is economical and ecological.
6) Descale and clean the work surface
If it’s next to the sink, it’s probably covered in limescale stains. Also add the classic food residue and other greasy dirt. To find a spotless work surface, take a little liquid black soap with a damp cloth or sponge. If necessary, sprinkle a little baking soda on the soap to make it even more effective. The power soap cleaner and degreaser associated with the side scaler, stain remover and mildly abrasive of this white powder will prove unbeatable!
7) Descale a carafe of water
Over time, the carafes may develop a slight white film as you use tap water. To find a nice clean carafe, let it soak in a water-white vinegar mixture for an hour. It will be like new again.
8) Descale the dishwasher
For a dishwasher with scale, you should instead use a large bowl of vinegar added to the appliance before starting a very hot empty wash. You can also pour two cups of this vinegar into the bottom of the appliance before starting the wash cycle.
