Unless you have stuck a tempered glass film as protection on the screen of your smartphone (in which case, you will just have to change it), all it takes is a little clumsiness or careless use for the see getting covered in scratches. Your little technological gem then loses its splendor and may also begin to function less well when it is touch sensitive. Fortunately, as long as the scratches are superficial, there are ways to reduce them, or even make them disappear completely from said screen. Discover these techniques (largely inspired by grandmother’s tips for light scratches on a window or on the lens of glasses) which will guarantee you a cell phone in good condition for longer.
On the other hand, note that for deep scratches and cracks, these methods may obviously not be enough… However, it is worth trying them! And above all, remember to use adhesive tape to hide ports and gaps in which the chosen product could otherwise nestle.
1) Toothpaste against phone screen scratches
To do this trick, make sure you use a simple white paste toothpaste (without grains, colorings or rough edges). Then, simply take a small amount onto a cotton pad or cotton swab and rub in circular motions. Be very gentle and take your timeit may take time for the scratch to disappear. Finish by ‘rinsing’ with a clean, slightly damp cloth. The result can be surprisingly satisfying!
2) Bicarbonate to erase superficial traces
Used properly, baking soda helps fade scratches on several types of surfaces (windows, induction hob, etc.), starting with the screen of a smartphone. To do this, add two parts sodium bicarbonate to one part water. Then, apply this mixture to your phone screen using a soft, clean cloth (microfiber type). Here again, make circular gestures without pressing too much so as not to create more scratches.
3) Talc or ash against screen scratches
Talc or cigarette (or wood) ash are two powders that can be used to replace bicarbonate if you don’t have any. You can mix talcum powder with water to form a thick paste or remove ash with a soft damp cloth. Next, rub your screen delicately and for a long time to reduce the appearance of streaks.
4) Vegetable oil, the little-known tip to try
To reduce small scratches, put a small drop of vegetable oil on the scratched area present on your phone laid flat. Leave for a few minutes, then wipe with a soft dry cloth to gently polish the screen. This may be enough to reduce or remove superficial marks. If necessary, finish by cleaning the phone to remove traces of grease.
5) Alum stone to work miracles on screen scratches
The recipe here is more complicated, but the trick allows you to obtain good results on light marks ! To make it, heat an egg white with alum stone in a saucepan, making sure to maintain a temperature of 65°C. Then, soak a clean soft cloth with this mixture and place it in the oven at 148°C on aluminum foil. Once the cloth is completely dry, run it under tap water for around twenty to thirty seconds to allow it to cool. All you have to do is let it dry for a few days before using it on the scratches!
6) A product for scratches on car bodies
Products designed to remove scratches on bodywork or headlights can also work on the screen of your mobile phone.
