A mother’s tip for restoring shine to dirty tiles

Save it for later!

When she moved into her new apartment in the south-east of Queensland (Australia), Carey Barling quickly realized a major problem. In her bathroom, she immediately notices the very dirty ceramic tiles which she knows will give her a hard time. However, there is no question of using expensive household products that are not always very effective! Without a second thought, she rushes to the four corners of the house to gather some natural, ecological ingredients and the tools to carry out this household task. Her tip for cleaning dirty tiles worked so well that she shared it on a Facebook group called “Mums who clean” where she was imitated to the point of being then relayed to the four corners of the internet, on the radio, and even in the columns of the DailyMail.

Although she didn’t share the exact proportions, she explained step by step how she achieved this stunning result. She started by mixing hot water with simple dishwashing liquid in a bucket. Then she added to this soapy water a touch of washing soda (St Marc laundry soda crystals). It’s THE secret to boost washing and remove stubborn dirt and mold. This ingredient helped boost the cleaning and degreasing power of the dishwashing product. No need to overdose! And of course, you also need a little elbow grease, especially if you plan to tile a tiled floor, walls and tile joints with your homemade cleaning product…

Last step of her plan: the mother leaves the classic mop in the closet! She replace with a cleaning brush. Enough to scrape and remove dirt without needing to scrub too much. In just a few minutes, it can scrub the entire floor and only needs to rinse and wipe dry.

Other detergents that might be useful?

No need for bleach! For greater cleanliness and to degrease all stains while allowing you to descale any traces of tartar in the kitchen or bathroom, you can use other grandmother’s natural products that you already use in your interiors. To clean well, there is the white vinegar or lemon juice (both to be avoided on porous cement-type coatings) as well as lait (dark floor) or the can of window product (less natural, but ideal on a light or white floor).

The baking soda or the clay stone allow them to remove stains. And thehuile de lin is the ideal product to add shine. As for the black soapit is also an excellent cleaning product to use in small quantities on a sponge in the event of a stain or in the recipe explained previously to replace dishwashing detergent.
