For whitening laundry, no bleach is needed. Most of the tips for removing white also help to whiten it!
1) Marseille soap to remove white
To clean a stain fresh or encrustedMarseille soap is always there! Tomato sauce stain, coffee stain, grease stain… Difficult marks on white textiles cannot resist it. To do this, very lightly moisten the soap and rub the stain to deposit a thick crust. Leave it on for about an hour and lather it all up with a little water. (Do not rinse the soap !) Here you can brush the garment with a soft brush if the fabric allows it. This will help clean the area thoroughly. Finish cleaning by machine washing.
2) Baking soda for successful stain removal
Regardless of the fabric and its color as well as the type of stainbaking soda is one of the best stain removers to use! In addition, it is non-toxic and biodegradable. It is also the star ingredient in our homemade k2r stain remover recipe where it is combined with black soap for greater effectiveness. In the case of a light stain on white cotton, you can simply leave your laundry to soak for an hour inbicarbonated water (6 tablespoons of bicarbonate for a basin of hot water) before washing. You can also remove stains by dabbing them with a clean cloth soaked in concentrated bicarbonate water and leaving it to act for 30 minutes.
3) Lemon to get a bright white
Against the sweat stains or if the white displays small yellow spots linked to wear and prolonged exposure to the sun, lemon juice is your best ally. Add the juice of three lemons per liter of cold water poured into a basin. Then let your garment soak for an hour before rinsing thoroughly. The yellow veil will only be a bad memory!
4) Percarbonate to whiten and remove white clothing
Where bicarbonate is only a stain remover, percarbonate of soda is just as ecological, and both whitening and stain removing. This makes it particularly useful for laundry care, particularly against wine or grass stains. It is also easy to find in supermarkets or DIY stores. To use it, prepare a basin of very hot water (the heat activates its stain removing and washing power), then add about two tablespoons of percarbonate and leave to soak for 1 to 2 hours. Then, put your white garment in the washing machine to finish removing it. It will be clean and shiny!
5) What about really tough or old stains?
If the previous tips aren’t enough, you’ll have to bring out the big guns! And there, do not hesitate to do a test in an inconspicuous corner before treating the stain to ensure that the fibers of the fabric are not damaged. For a dark stain on very dirty white, the hydrogen peroxide (or more simply hydrogen peroxide) is ideal. Use a cloth soaked in this solution to dab the stain. Otherwise, consider 70° alcohol or household alcoholespecially for paint stains.
