5 smart ways to deodorize with lemon

Save it for later!

Our daily lives are marked by bad smells. To eliminate them, nothing beats this good old lemon and its essential oil whose smells are simply to die for and allow you to knock out the most foul odors there are. But what possibilities are available to us and how can we take full advantage of this essential citrus fruit in the kitchen? We give you five clever examples that you will quickly adopt!

1) To purify the air

We had already talked about its purifying power in a previous article where we mentioned its bactericidal and antiviral effects. You can deodorize your interior and sanitize it in a single step. To do this, use a few drops in diffusion or in a dish placed on a heating radiator. You can also place some on a cloth and rub your unlit bulbs: once lit and heated, they will give off a lovely lemony scent.

2) To eliminate kitchen odors

Of course, cooking often leaves good smells of food, but this is not always very pleasant and you may not want your home to smell of roast chicken all afternoon! If you have used your oven, place lemon peels in it while it is still hot so that the heat diffuses this beautiful scent. Another technique is simply to put lemon peels in a saucepan filled with water that you heat (you can even add thyme, rosemary, cinnamon, bay leaf… depending on your inspiration of the moment). Cleaning with lemon products will also guarantee a pleasant smell.

3) To deodorize your toilet and bathroom

To keep your toilets smelling good, all you need is a porous stone purchased or found in nature (forest, beach, etc.). Sprinkle it with lemon juice to make it smell nice for a few days. You can also put a few drops of lemon essential oil on your toilet paper roll (the details of this tip can be found on this link)!

4) In the dishwasher

Between two washes, the dishes that accumulate in the appliance can leave a dirty smell and each time you open it to put new dirty plates in, it’s an infection! To avoid this, all you need is some peel or leftover squeezed lemon that you put in a corner of the dishwasher. You can even leave it on while washing for the sake of odor and cleanliness by applying the technique explained in this article.

5) In a smelly refrigerator

All it takes is for a food item to be poorly packaged or for its smell to be very strong and your fridge is filled with unpleasant odors. To no longer have this problem, place half a lemon on the fridge door and let it absorb the nasty scents.
