The home tip for effectively cleaning the joints of your tiles!

Save it for later!

It’s yellow, almost black, you’re on the verge of redoing the shower tiles to put something else. Take a step back: you don’t have the means. And in the end, it’s not that serious. You’re not going to do the shower again! With the right ingredients, did you know that it is entirely possible to restore your joints to their former whiteness? It is even very likely that you already have the two necessary products in the cupboard. Here is the recipe for cleaning your joints!

What you need:

  • 1 glass of bleach
  • 100 g of bicarbonate
  • Old toothbrush
  • Gloves to protect your hands

Steps to clean the joints:

1 — In a bowl, mix 100 g of bicarbonate with 1 glass of bleach, until a thick paste forms. Take gloves and open the window when handling the bleach. Oh, and wear old clothes too…the bleach stains!

2 — Then apply the paste directly to the black joints (or yellow, in short, it’s not pretty).

3 — Leave to act for 5 to 10 min. In the meantime, do whatever you want.

4 — With an old toothbrush (not the one you use every day), scrub the tile joints. If you have a drill, there is also this clever solution that requires less elbow grease. If you don’t want to spend hours scrubbing and polishing, this saves time!

5 — Leave to act again for 5 to 10 minutes.

6 — Then rinse the joints, and that’s it. It’s still immediately cleaner! And your showers will be even more pleasant.

Note in passing that the mixture works just as well on white silicone joints as cement joints, whether they are in the bathroom or in the kitchen. If you don’t have bleach on hand, we invite you to put 4 tablespoons of baking soda with 10 centiliters of white vinegar in a spray bottle. Spray the joints and leave to act for 24 hours. The next day, rub a little and admire the result. And in the event of a rust stain, it’s lemon and salt that you should set your sights on!
