A descaling gel for toilets that smells of mint and lemon
What you need:
- Water (50 ml of cold water and 200 ml of boiling water)
- 200 ml of spirit vinegar (Optional: you can prepare a vinegar macerate for an even more effective mixture that smells good! Everything will be explained in step 1 of the preparation)
- 3 tablespoons of bicarbonate
- 3 tablespoons of starch (potato, corn, rice, etc.)
- 30 drops of essential oil: tea tree, lemon, grapefruit, Scots pine, etc.
The steps:
1) (Optional) Create a vinegar macerate by adding mint leaves to the vinegar. You can also add citrus peels, rosemary and even lavender. Let everything sit in the sun for 3 weeks.
2) Mix with the powders. Then add cold water and whisk.
3) Continue by adding the hot water and whisking again.
4) Then gradually and gently incorporate your vinegar (or vinegar macerate). Finish with drops of essential oil.
5) Transfer into a container (can, large bottle, etc.) and add a label!
A powder that cleans, descales and disinfects
What you need:
- 100 grams of citric acid
- 100 grams of baking soda
- 20 grams of Marseille soap (grated very finely beforehand)
- 2 generous tablespoons of soda crystals
- Essential oils: lemon, tea tree and lemon eucalyptus (10 drops of each)
- Optional: blue food coloring (to imitate commercial powders)
The steps:
1) Start by mixing your powders very carefully.
2) Then add the essential oils and mix.
3) If you want to color the mixture, pour the coloring drop by drop, mixing well between each drop (to limit effervescence).
4) Transfer everything into a shaker or a jar. Bicarbonate, Herbes de Provence or salt shakers are ideal for this.
To use, pour two tablespoons into the toilet before going to bed and scrub a little the next day. The powder will have already done a lot of the work for you!
