You would think that a tool used for cleaning would smell good, but this is very rarely the case. The best example remains the sponge which can quickly smell unfresh despite the fact that we use a dishwashing detergent which smells divine and we use it to clean dishes which have contained wonderful meals! In fact, bacteria that take up residence there and certain poorly rinsed residues can be the cause of these odors. How to find a sponge that smells good and is disinfected? It’s possible with this tip using lemon.
Good to know: you can put your sponge in the dishwasher to clean it, put it in the microwave to kill bacteria, or use baking soda to bring it back to life (or even salt).
What you need:
- A lemon
- Very hot water
- A container
- A smelly sponge (or several)
The steps:
1) Pour your hot water into a container.
2) Squeeze your lemon to collect the juice and add this to your hot water.
3) Soak the sponge in this bath overnight.
4) The next day, rinse it with clean water.
