Not so long ago, organic hygiene and beauty products were little known and we thought they were only aimed at eco-friendly people. Today, they are found everywhere and they come in products of all types (for babies, shaving, etc.). For us who often encourage you to make your own products and trust the power of natural ingredients, it was important to explain why you should favor organic products.
1) They exclude harmful ingredients
Conventional cosmetic products are full of ingredients from petrochemicals and are therefore cocktails of pesticides, lead, carcinogenic parabens, silicone, endocrine disruptors, irritating perfumes, plastic, etc. They are not only non-biodegradable, but also often harmful to us. They can also be aggressive. This is the case of the foaming surfactant with the sweet name sodium laureth sulfate present in the majority of shampoos and shower gels on the market which has… detergent and stripping properties! Furthermore, studies on the subject are clear: our treatments can penetrate deep into the epidermis… a great motivation to be careful about what we put there.
2) They are better for skin and hair
The skin and plants have a biological relationship, organic products are therefore very compatible with the constituents of the epidermis. They are better assimilated and the skin can easily metabolize them while it does not know how to eliminate the chemicals that end up stored in the body. In addition, natural treatments often go to the essentials with fewer and more targeted ingredients. For example, Nil and Sophie, the Marseille creators of the Comme Avant boutique, couldn’t find anything that suited their baby’s delicate skin. They then began creating a soap based solely on olive oil and it was a revelation! Proof if any were needed that a list of ingredients does not need to be long and complicated to be effective… and at least we know what we are using!
3) They act slowly, but surely
Conventional products often have immediate sensational effects, but do not work in the long term, because they tire the skin and damage it. Organic treatment takes longer to act, but the skin self-protects itself better by benefiting from real active ingredients (amino and fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants, essential oils 250 times more powerful than plants with only a few drops, etc.). In addition, ingredients grown without pesticides develop means of adaptation and defense and therefore have better natural energy.
4) They have evolved and it has become a pleasure to use them
Before, organic smelled bad and had unpleasant pasty textures. The makeup was not pigmented. The sensoriality has improved greatly and as research progresses, we no longer feel the difference with conventional care. Today they feature pretty packaging with cool names to enhance their formulas full of honey, generous butters, lush oils, enchanting flowers and delicious fruits. The products no longer have anything to do with each other and they have also been democratized to become more accessible to all budgets.
5) They are well controlled and in harmony with nature
To benefit from organic labels and certifications, they must follow precise specifications and are checked at each stage. This is the case for the farmer and the supplier of raw materials as well as for the finished product. Their production methods must be in accordance with nature and non-denaturing manufacturing. Human values and respect for animals and the planet are often key elements (recyclable packaging, waste reduction, carbon footprint, fair trade, etc.).
