Commercial deodorants are not suitable for everyone, as some ingredients can cause allergies or irritation. Furthermore, the harmfulness of certain ingredients motivates a particular attraction for natural alternatives. In this article, you will find the recipe for a natural homemade deodorant which helps control perspiration and odors (without having the effectiveness of an antiperspirant, but still with good anti-humidity power thanks to its ingredients). Its almond scent is exquisite and sweet, which makes it even more pleasant and addictive!
What you need:
- 65 g baking soda
- 16 g of arrowroot powder (in organic stores or online)
- 40 g of beeswax
- 20 g cold-pressed coconut oil
- 20 g of shea butter
- 15 drops of almond essential oil
- A stick deodorant container
The steps:
1) In a bain-marie, melt the beeswax then add the coconut oil and shea butter.
2) When everything is well liquid and incorporated, you can remove from the heat and pour in the drops of essential oil.
3) Then pour in the powders and mix well until you obtain a fairly runny and fluid paste.
4) Transfer everything into the deodorant stick and let everything solidify overnight without a lid.
5) That’s it! Apply it to your armpits in a small amount and without pressing too hard on the skin.
Some useful information:
If you’re not used to natural deodorants, give it time to work! The body can “detox” for a while after stopping supermarket deodorants, which will make it seem like the deodorant isn’t working when all it needs is for the pH to balance.
If you experience irritation that doesn’t go away (this can happen even with very mild ingredients), use more arrowroot powder and less baking soda next time.
