In our interiors filled with furniture, trinkets and carpets, dust quickly tends to accumulate. Once the house is full of dust, you have to deal with musty odors and you just need to be sensitive to dust mites to have an itchy nose. Here you can of course decide to buy a commercially available cleaning spray. However, they are expensive to say the least and contain a myriad of harmful ingredients (irritants, allergens, endocrine disruptors and sometimes even carcinogens). Fortunately, it is possible to combat layers of dust without chemicals thanks to the recipes we offer in this article. And rest assured: concocting an anti-dust cleaner is as easy and quick as it is effective, inexpensive and environmentally friendly. Some formulas even help prevent dirt from returning too quickly!
1) Multi-surface dust cleaner with white vinegar
To remove dust from all surfaces in the house, nothing beats a recipe based on white vinegar. This multi-use maintenance product allows you topermanently eliminate dust and the presence of oil will help delay his return.
All you need to do here is dilute 6 cl of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 10-15 drops of essential oil of your choice in a mustard glass of water and slip everything into a sprayer for a easy to use. For the choice of essential oils, you can for example opt for lemongrass essential oil for a antibacterial and insect repellent effect. Otherwise, think of lemon, lavender, tangerine or even eucalyptus. All you have to do is spray it on the furniture, walls, shelves, ceilings or worktops and wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth (microfiber cloth type).
2) The special wood dust remover with olive oil
For wood, it is always wiser to opt for a product that allows both clean it, dust it and shine it. With our blend, the promise is kept and the dust also returns less quickly thanks to the presence of oil. To do this, add ½ cup of vinegar, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of Castile soap and 3-4 drops of lemon essential oil to a cup of water. Pour your mixture into a spray bottle for easier application. All you have to do is spray this liquid on your furniture and floors, then wipe with a microfiber cloth. Shine and cleanliness guaranteed!
3) The special anti-dust cleaner for wood and all surfaces
Like the previous recipe, this one is gentle enough to clean, nourish, protect and shine the wood thanks to the presence of linseed oil. However, you can also consider using it on other surfaces thanks to its low-greasy formula which makes dust slide instead of hanging on it. Dirt is thus forgotten for longer for greater peace of mind. To make it, pour 25 cl of demineralized water, 12.5 cl of white vinegar, 5 cl of linseed oil and around twenty drops of tea tree essential oil (optional) into a spray bottle. All you have to do is spray, rub and wipe!
4) The express and easy formula (rather unusual too!)
To clean the dust and prevent it from coming back, boil water, let it cool, then carefully stir in a capful of shampoo or conditioner. Once the mixture is homogeneous, all that remains is to apply it and wipe with a soft cloth. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for any surface…and even for cleaning windows!
Other Anti-Dust Tips Besides Your Cleaner

You can also make your cloth more effective by soaking it in glycerin water (one tablespoon of glycerin in one liter of water). Once thoroughly soaked, simply let it dry and use it to dust. You can also add a few drops of this same glycerin to your window and mirror product to prevent dust from sticking to it. You’ll see: it’s magical!
To dust and clean your baseboards effectively, however, it is best to use a fabric softener for the dryer or a microfiber cloth soaked in a few drops of fabric softener for a more powerful antistatic effect.
