Clay is one of those great classics in the field of beauty that we cannot do without. We happily use it on our face as a mask and we very easily turn to hair care products that contain it when our hair is oily, but for an element that we think we know so well, its varied uses are all the same. often quite unknown and our ways of using it are not always the best. To make good use of it, find here 5 beauty or health tips to know with clay.
1) Let’s start with the mask that everyone knows so well, but be careful: not used randomly!
First of all, choose your clay carefully! Some people automatically turn to green clay because they are unfamiliar with the other colors and may think they are the same thing. The problem is that certain types of clay are not suitable for certain skin types and can attack the epidermis.
Distinguish between the different types of clay:
- Green or yellow: for oily or combination skin
- Red or white: for dry and sensitive skin
How to make the mask?
With a wooden spoon, mix the water and clay until smooth. You can boost the effectiveness of the mask with acacia honey. Leave on the skin for ten minutes. Remoisten regularly to prevent the mask from drying out completely and allow the clay to continue working on impurities.
2) On a wound
The recipe presented above for the face can also be useful in the treatment of a superficial wound. To help your wound heal, put the paste on the area to be treated for around twenty minutes.
3) In toothpaste
There are several recipes for natural toothpastes with clay. Some are in powder form and others come in the form of a classic paste. To create your own, you can mix 2 tablespoons of green clay with 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 2 to 3 cloves (ground into powder), 2 drops of mint or lemon essential oil and water added last spoon by spoon to obtain a dough with the perfect texture. Another recipe consists of a mixture composed of green clay mixed with an infusion of cloves then a little olive oil (a mixture which can be kept in the fridge for two months).
4) The poultice
If you suffer from heavy legs or pain (back, knee, etc.), you can use clay as a poultice. Mix the powder with a little water, we are looking to obtain a muddy texture here. Put this mixture on gauze, paper towels or a cloth and fold it (this will prevent hair from sticking to it) before placing it on the area to be relieved. Let the clay dry and set for as long as possible.
There is another technique that we told you about in an article on heavy legs. In 500 ml of lukewarm water, pour 3 good tablespoons of powdered green clay. Mix then leave to rest for about 1 hour. Then for 30 minutes, leave the compresses on (if not, you can also use gloves or towels). Place them on your calves and ankles.
5) In shampoo
Obtain an opaque liquid by mixing 25 cl of water with clay. Once in the shower (with damp hair), pour this preparation over your hair. Gently massage the scalp and leave for two minutes. Rinse.
