What you need:

  • Boric acid
  • Condensed milk
  • Gloves to protect your hands while handling the mixture

The steps:

1) Mix 30 g of boric acid with a small dose of condensed milk in a bowl.

2) We seek to obtain a homogeneous dough. So if it’s too liquid, add more boric acid and if it’s crumbly, add a little milk.

3) In your hands, form balls the size of peas.

4) You can place these balls in bottle caps or on the floor or walls (knowing that they are difficult to remove when they have dried).

5) Arrange everything in the notorious frequentation places that you have identified. Don’t put it in places where you haven’t seen cockroaches. The mixture takes effect within 24 hours and remains effective for 6 to 8 months.

Be careful that your pets and children do not have access to the pellets.

Powders against these disgusting pests

For example, you can also sprinkle diatomaceous earth in transit areas. It is a natural powder composed of fossilized remains of diatoms. It is abrasive to their exoskeleton and dehydrates them, which therefore kills them. Alternatively, you can mix equal parts of baking soda and sugar powder. Place this mixture in small containers or sprinkle it in areas frequented by cockroaches. Indeed, sugar attracts cockroaches and baking soda kills them.

Anti-cockroach essential oils

Cockroaches hate the smell of lavender. So, mix a few drops oflavender essential oil with water in a spray bottle and spray the infested areas. L’eucalyptus essential oil is also a natural repellent for cockroaches. So use it in the same way as lavender. Finally, you can do the same with thepeppermint essential oilto spray especially around entrances and dark corners.

A homemade cockroach trap

Take a narrow neck glass jar and coat the inside of the edge with vaseline. Place a bait such as a piece of bread soaked in beer or sugar at the bottom of the jar. Next, surround the outside of the container with a cloth or tape with the sticky side out to help these little critters climb. The cockroaches will thus be able enter, but won’t be able to exit because of the vaseline.

Natural repellents to place in places of passage

Cockroaches hate the smell of bay leaves. Also, place bay leaves in cupboards, drawers and other places where they might hide. Furthermore, use white vinegar or lemon juice to clean your kitchen surfaces and floors. Their strong odor repels cockroaches and many other undesirables (flies, mosquitoes, gnats, etc.). Finally, place slices of fresh cucumber in the infested areas. In fact, cockroaches don’t like the smell of cucumbers.
