Not long ago, we introduced you to a great way to improve the smell of the vinegar you use when cleaning. Today, we’re taking a little inspiration from this technique to make a very powerful cleaner based on alcohol and lemon. Alcohol allows you to clean and disinfect almost everything and on all surfaces without damaging them (unlike vinegar which is incompatible with certain materials because of its higher acidity than this preparation). This cleanser has a more pleasant smell thanks to the presence of lemon which boosts its effectiveness and its antimicrobial power. Here’s how to prepare it!
What you need:
- A large jar with a lid
- Isopropyl alcohol
- Lemon peels
We use lemon because it is more effective than other citrus fruits thanks to its acidity and its properties. You can’t replace them with lemon essential oil, because they don’t have the same properties and the oils would stay on top of the preparation, but you can add some for the smell if you really want.
The steps:
1) Slide the lemon peels into the opening of the jar.
2) Top up with alcohol to the top of the jar.
3) Close it tightly and let it infuse for at least 2 weeks (the maximum being two months to infuse).
4) And there you have it! Your cleanser is ready.
You can use it pure by pouring a small amount onto a cloth to remove a stain or diluting it in your other homemade household products and even pouring a small part into water to spray it on large surfaces.
