What you need to save your hardened brushes:

  • Lemon juice OR white vinegar
  • Container
  • Water and soap

Soften your hardened brushes step by step:

1) In your container, pour lemon juice or boiling white vinegar.

2) Dip your brushes in it for a quarter of an hour.

3) After this time, check that the hairs are completely softened. If not, let it soak a little longer.

4) Wash the brush with warm soapy water to remove all paint residue.

The bonus tip: Note that you can avoid having to clean a brush if you haven’t finished painting that day by carefully wrapping it (with the paint still fresh) in aluminum foil, cling film or a freezer bag. The next day the brush will be ready to use and the paint will still be fresh.
