When cleaning the bathtub and sinks, we generally like to rely on very effective products that scrub well! In fact, limescale and soap marks can quickly become encrusted and drive us crazy when cleaning. It is generally at the cost of a lot of hard work that we manage to put everything back together (and to think that some people pay a subscription to the room when it is possible to simply clean the bathtub 😉!). To restore their original shine with minimal effort, you can also prepare this great scouring powder recipe with four simple ingredients. Unlike commercial household products, they are not toxic. And what’s more, they will leave behind a pleasant smell.
In the same spirit, you can also make your own homemade clay stone to use for scrubbing all the surfaces in the house.
What you need:
- 500 g of baking soda (or sodium, these two different names refer to the same product)
- 70 g of table salt
- 10 drops of orange essential oil
- 5 drops of lavender essential oil
The steps:
1) In a bowl, first pour the powdered ingredients (salt and bicarbonate).
2) Then add the essential oils. They provide a pleasant smell and make the product more effective thanks to their respective properties.
3) Mix well and transfer to an airtight jar. Do not hesitate to add a label to prevent the product from being misused. Even if the ingredients are not toxic, we wouldn’t want a loved one to accidentally add them to a recipe…
Use is simple: sprinkle powder in the sink or bathtub and rub with a dampened washcloth or sponge. No need to rub too hard as you risk scratching the stainless steel and earthenware in the long run. This cleaning maintenance product naturally has an abrasive power. This is what allows you to make less effort to make the bathroom shine! Rinse well.
