And one of the things vinegar is wonderful for, it’s to take care of the laundry ! Here’s a technique to make a fresh-smelling softener that you won’t be able to do without. Better than white vinegar as a softener, here is mint vinegar which will perfectly complement your homemade laundry!
What you need:
- 3.8 liters of white vinegar (or spirit vinegar)
- A very generous handful of fresh mint leaves
- A large container for your fabric softener
- A funnel
- Sieve or colander
If the good smell of mint is not really to your taste, you can replace the mint leaves with fresh thyme, rosemary, rose, lavender, citrus peels, eucalyptus, verbena or basil for example. Just make sure the leaves are fresh, not dry.
The steps:
1) First, insert your leaves into your container.
2) Pour the vinegar on top to cover.
3) Leave to infuse well for a whole day (24 hours). After this time, you can remove the leaves (for example by filtering with a sieve or colander).
Your good-smelling fabric softener is ready to use or store!
4) For each wash, pour 60 ml of your vinegar into the softener compartment of the washing machine.
The vinegar will help fight the limescale which makes the laundry rough and unpleasant to the touch. In addition, it will help deodorize very odorous clothing (sports clothing, etc.). When used alone, it leaves no odor on clothes. However, by adding mint, it brings a very pleasant dose of freshness.
