After spending several days coughing up your lungs and using an industrial quantity of tissues, the last thing you want is to get sick again. This is even more true during the convalescence period when we feel better without having regained all our usual energy. For a successful recovery, do not neglect cleaning the house to find a healthier environment and avoid recontaminating yourself (or those you love). Good cleaning helps remove some of the germs that surround us, having coughed and putting our hands covered in bacteria all over the house. Where to start? How not to forget anything? Follow the leader !
And to find out what to eat to quickly get back on track, take a look at this article which talks about it in detail. And to simply avoid getting sick to avoid these inconveniences, click here to learn some techniques.
1) Take care of the household linens
When you are sick, remember to double the linen, because you are more likely to sweat with a fever and all the blankets. We definitely don’t want our mattress or pillow to be full of sweat so put two pillowcases and two fitted sheets.
When you feel better, don’t forget to change your sheets. Clean them with a slightly more intensive cleaning program. Also remember to leave the bed uncovered for a few hours to let it dry thoroughly. You can consider taking advantage of this opportunity to clean it using the technique you gave yourself.
2) Disinfect everything
It’s important to disinfect things you touch frequently: handles, switches, phones, remote controls (if you survived the illness by relaxing in front of Netflix), etc. A splash of dishwashing liquid and hot water can help clean many items.
For electronics and things that are more difficult to clean, here is a recipe for an antibacterial spray to make. Mix 240 ml of water with 120 ml of vinegar and add 5 drops of each of these essential oils: lavender, tea tree and orange.
3) We ventilate well!
When it’s cold, we are tempted to leave the windows tightly closed. But when you are sick or recovering, it is important to renew the air in your home. A breath of fresh air also does a lot of good and helps you feel energetic to recharge your batteries a little.
4) We also go to the bathroom
Clean everything you used: body and hand towels, washcloths, etc.
It is also important to wash off anything that has touched your face. We are thinking in particular of the makeup brushes or sponges that you may have used to make you look more alive.
5) The toothbrush
The toothbrush also deserves a good little wash after being in contact with your germ-filled mouth. A bath of water with tea tree oil is all it needs to kill any germs lying around.
6) Continue to use your diffuser
When you’re sick, you may already be using essential oil blends in your diffuser to boost your immune system (a good example of a blend: clove, cinnamon, lemon, eucalyptus and rosemary) and breathe better (the blend to test for your respiratory tract: peppermint, tea tree, eucalyptus, rosemary, lemon and clove).
We advise you to do the same afterwards with a mixture that helps purify the air: lemongrass, tea tree, coriander, lemon, lime, orange and white fir.
7) Don’t forget the car
Germs often come from outside. And with everything we touch in a day, we also find it in the car where we touch the steering wheel. Use the antibacterial spray suggested earlier to clean the steering wheel and doors. It’s quick and it can make a difference.
8) Clean your tools during and after illness
Do not hesitate to put your sponge in your dishwasher or put it in the microwave then rinse it well to remove bacteria, because you can be sure that it will be covered.
