Original tips for filling a hole
Plug a hole with white toothpaste
Present in all homes, the tube of white toothpaste which ensures our oral hygiene can also be used to fill holes and cracks in the walls. To do this, it is enough to mix it with crushed aspirin powder to thicken it a little. This will form a soft, but thick dough. Then, all you have to do is apply everything to the hole, smoothing it out well. Finally, let everything dry.
White or ivory soap to hide the hole or crack
No time to waste? In this case, take a bar of soap and rub it on the wall going back and forth. When you can no longer see the hole, use a cloth to remove the excess and do not touch it again.
The baking soda mixture
To replace the classic silicone sealant, opt for the version DIY ! To do this, mix one part baking soda with two parts white glue. This will give you a thick paste to apply in the hole, preferably with a spatula if you have one. Remember to let it dry well.
Classic techniques for filling a hole for a more lasting result
These cheap tips work well to hide small defects and regain your deposit. However, some might argue that this is not not very correct for the owner or the next tenant if these “hides” don’t hold up well. Furthermore, if you are considering more extensive work or a paint renovation, we strongly advise you to use a more durable filling available in DIY stores. For a less superficial hole or crack, this is also highly recommended, as the previous solutions will certainly not be enough. Additionally, you can repaint over it if it is not a white wall.

Good to know: for hide holes without filling themyou can buy self-adhesive patches. They are ready to use, available in several sizes and very easy to use. Simply affix them to the hole and apply a thin layer of filler to hide the self-adhesive patch. After drying, you can move on to sanding and painting.
