Along with cleaning the oven, cleaning the gas stove is easily one of the most difficult household tasks, but ones that are difficult to avoid. Indeed, from the grills to the burners and all the surrounding surfaces, cookers quickly become covered in grime. Added to grease splashes are burnt food residue, and removing all this dirt requires a lot of elbow grease. To cook in good hygienic conditions, all this dirt is not welcome! 1) Carry out maintenance on the cooking plates
For a regular maintenancebaking soda diluted in hot water will be more than enough. Use this mixture after each use of the cooktop to prevent dirt buildup. For scrubbing large spills and stubborn stainsInstead, use white vinegar, hot if necessary. This will get the plates shining in no time. A thick paste made from water and bicarbonate can also be used. You can add 2 drops of lemon or orange essential oil for a more cleansing and descaling effect. After all these operations, remember to rinse and dry with a microfiber cloth. This will add a lot of shine!
2) Clean the gas stove grills
For these grills, like all the elements of the gas stove (or even the kitchen), the key to cleanliness is regular cleaning! The most practical solution is to put them in the dishwasher. However, if you don’t have one, you will have to wash by hand with hot water, a sponge that scrubs well and simple dishwashing liquid. Once a month you can also give them a big scrub by leaving them to soak overnight in a basin of hot water with vinegar. If dirty, add a handful of coarse salt. The fat won’t resist it!
Don’t you mind using chemicals? In this case, it is also possible to use an abrasive sponge and a toothbrush to scrub with the help of a scouring cream. It is also possible to pour ammonia into a freezer bag and leave the grill immersed in this liquid for a few hours. All you have to do is rub off the last grease a little before rinsing. Think about wear gloves to protect your hands of this maintenance product.
3) Deep degreasing of the burners
At least once a weekdisassemble the burners to give them a thorough cleaning. To do this, there are several ways to proceed. However, the simplest technique is to let them soak in a basin of boiling water with Marseille soap, black soap or white vinegar (alone or with coarse salt for more degreasing). Depending on the degree of contamination, two hours to overnight may be necessary. Then, all you have to do is rub vigorously with a good sponge or toothbrush to reach the nooks and crannies. Rinse with clean water, dry carefully and replace your burners. Otherwise, scouring cream on an abrasive sponge can be used.
4) And to clean the gas stove knobs?
This is a bit like the last step to finish cleaning. In fact, we have sometimes tend to forget themwhile they are also subject to splashes when cooking food. Fortunately, cleaning them is much simpler! Once or twice a month (or more if necessary), clean them with hot soapy water or bicarbonate. If necessary, a toothbrush will help you reach the nooks and crannies. Then dry them with a clean, dry cloth and put them back in place. Shine guaranteed!
Bonus tip: For added shine, polish your gas stove with a dab of olive oil on a soft cloth. This will also prevent dirt from getting stuck!
