Glycerin is not unknown to those interested in the composition of their products. And for good reason, we find it in many of the products that make up our beauty routine, especially in hair products. But what’s important is knowing what it’s for and how to use it to your advantage to be even more hydrated.

What is it about?

Glycerin is in a syrupy form, a little viscous, transparent and without any particular color. It has several cosmetic benefits such as its softening power to provide softness, its emollient side and its moisturizing power for the skin as well as the hair make it a must in the field of beauty.

Where can we find it?

Buy your vegetable glycerin online or in a store specializing in organic products.

How to use it?

Simply add it to your emulsions (milk, creams, etc.), your hair products (shampoo, styling products, conditioner, masks, etc.) or even your shower gels. You can also put it in your hydroglycerinated plant macerates?

It is insoluble in oil, but is completely miscible in water and alcohol. You can also add it to your butters and balms.

Just one detail not to be overlooked: the dosage!

Used in too high a quantity, glycerin dries out the hair rather than moisturizing it, so it is not recommended to overdose, as you will be disappointed with the result.

Follow these few measures:

  • For a hair product, glycerin should not exceed the quantity of 1 to 10% of the total weight of the preparation.
  • For a skin product, we will count between 1% to 8% of the total weight of the preparation.
  • Finally, for shower gels or lip balm, count between 1% to 10% of the total weight as for hair.
