Over the years, we become better at handling laundry and especially difficult stains. We learn new techniques and methods that work more or less well and they end up seeming less formidable to us. On the other hand, blood stains are particularly tough and even the best tricks don’t always seem powerful enough to make them disappear without a halo. We know that you should never use hot water on them so as not to fix them in the fibers and that it is better to act quickly to clean them, but when it comes to removing them completely, we often have more difficulty ! So how do you clean and stain clothes, sheets, mattresses or towels with a blood stain? In this article, you will find the steps to remove these nightmarish traces step by step.
What you need:
- Oxygenated water
- Dishwashing liquid
- Take the bicarbonate
- An old toothbrush
How to remove a blood stain from laundry? The steps to follow:
1) Spray hydrogen peroxide on the stains, making sure to saturate them well.
2) With a toothbrush reserved for this purpose, scratch the stain to penetrate the fibers even deeper for even more effective action.
3) Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes. Rinse and observe: if the stain is completely gone, machine washing will finish the job (make sure this is done quickly after treatment to avoid the risk of discoloration). If, on the other hand, there is a lot left, pour dishwashing detergent on the stain and sprinkle with baking soda.
4) Scrub again with your toothbrush and rinse. Then put everything in the machine.
Hydrogen peroxide is perfect for this type of stain, because in contact with blood, it will release an enzyme, catalase, and carry out a reaction which will loosen the stain. The linen will thus be clean and free of blood without leaving any marks!
