The miracle product for cleaning the frames of your PVC windows

Many people have PVC windows. Their solidity gives them good durability. In addition, these windows are resistant to impacts and provide excellent thermal insulation. However, the white frame tends to yellow quite easily. However, just like the dusty rails and joints of windows and patio doors, we can sometimes forget it when we make the windows… But how to clean PVC of all its stains and restore its shine? To regain the dazzling whiteness of the material, there is only one miracle solution without chemicals: soda crystals! Ecological and economical, this grandmother’s maintenance product will de-yellow and whiten the frames of your PVC windows while removing dirt.

What you need:

  • A basin
  • 2 liters of lukewarm water
  • 2 tbsp of soda crystals

Steps for cleaning PVC windows:

1) Put your water in your basin and add your soda crystals. Mix to dilute everything.

2) Clean your PVC windows as usual with a cloth soaked in this solution.

3) Leave to act then rinse with a damp cloth to finish making the PVC windows shine.

Important : Wear gloves to protect your hands while cleaning to remove dirt and shine without damaging your hands.

Never do when cleaning PVC:

Of many maintenance products can be used to clean PVC. This is the case for soapy water (black soap, Marseille soap, dishwashing liquid, etc.), clay stone, household alcohol, white spirit, etc. But above all, forget the reflex which consists of using bleach or ammonia whenever it comes to whitening something. With their abrasive detergent effect, they not suitable for cleaning PVC. Also avoid acetone, gasoline and nitrocellulose thinner. In addition, avoid rubbing and scratching too hard with your damp sponge or soft cloth as this may scratch it. This will preserve the material and limit the micro-scratches that encourage its wear!

Grandma’s little extra:

Before cleaning the PVC, treat the window with a mixture of 25 cl of white vinegar and 75 cl of hot water. It will be a natural cleaning product, very effective and anti-fog for your windows. With a chamois, a microfiber cloth or newspaper, you will not have any marks. To avoid marks caused by cleaning dirt, remember to clean your windows on a day when it is not too sunny. This way, the product will not dry out too quickly due to the heat. Shine and cleanliness guaranteed!
