Often, stubborn stains need a little help to remove properly in the washing machine. This is for example the case of yellow sweat stains on white clothing. This is when the pre-wash stain remover proves its usefulness! However, if you’ve already opted for homemade laundry detergent and white vinegar for fabric softener, you may also be looking for a toxic chemical-free alternative to store-bought laundry detergent. Against encrusted stains, you can prepare this economical and ecological natural pre-wash stain remover. Very easy to make and powerful, this homemade stain remover is effective against all stains and respects sensitive skin and the environment. In two words: he’s got it all! Grandma explains her preparation step by step.
The ingredients of the natural pre-wash stain remover:
- 500 ml of water
- Baking soda (or sodium bicarbonate, it’s the same thing)
- Liquid black soap
The preparation steps:
1) It’s quite simple! Start by slipping your water into a bottle.
2) Then, add three tablespoons of bicarbonate.
3) Add a cap of black soap to your mixture.
4) Give it a good stir and it’s ready to use on stains!
Note that you can also apply black soap directly to the stain and sprinkle with baking soda before moistening, rubbing, rinsing and repeating if necessary. However, it is more practical and pleasant to have a ready-to-use product on hand before each wash.
How to use the stain remover before washing at home?
Apply your stain remover directly on the stain. It will then be necessary to leave it on for 20 minutes so that the fibers are well impregnated and the stain comes off a little. Next, slip your garment into the washing machine and run a normal wash cycle. Your clothes will come out impeccable!
A few tips against stains before leaving…
- Do not use no hot water on the stains at the risk of setting them. This is particularly the case with blood stains!
- Also, the sooner you treat the stain, the greater your chances of removing it.
- Also, remove the excess without stretching it and instead rub the traces inward so as not to extend them.
- Running out of black soap or bicarbonate to make the stain remover before washing? There is no shortage of replacement options! The best thing is to rub the stain with a moistened Marseille soap.
With all this, even the toughest food stains don’t stand a chance!
