THE ultimate method to remove old pee marks from a mattress

Save it for later!

The joys of being a parent are many, but nighttime pees aren’t really one of them! The pads help prevent marks, but their effectiveness is no longer foolproof after numerous washes and trips in the dryer and you may no longer think about putting them on when the child has grown up. Unfortunately, it can happen to older children to have small accidents at night. And it must be said that this leaves marks on our sheets, but also, and above all, on our mattresses. However, you can’t put them in the washing machine to clean them… So you have to be clever with the right cleaning products and a few tips to avoid getting a halo! Here’s how to remove a pee stain without bleach or ammonia and remove bad odors like a grandmother without damaging it.

Ingredients against stubborn pee stains on a mattress:

  • 45 g baking soda
  • 237 ml of hydrogen peroxide or 3% hydrogen peroxide
  • A drop of dishwashing liquid
  • A spray bottle with a fairly wide stem (so it doesn’t get clogged)

How to remove stains step by step:

1) Pour the ingredients into your spray bottle in the order given.

2) Then, shaking like crazy is out of the question! Just swirl your bottle so that the ingredients mix without creating bubbles.

3) If the pee is still fresh, you will first need to dab it with absorbent paper to remove as much moisture as possible. Then spray the product obtained on the pee marks and let your detergent act for 5 to 10 minutes. Leaving it on will help absorb, deodorize and remove the stain

4) With a good vacuum cleaner or brush, remove any last traces of excess baking soda from the stained area.

And there you have it! Your mattress is like new with no urine stain residue. Be careful, this very effective mixture must be quickly used after preparation (within 20 minutes). In fact, hydrogen peroxide becomes less active once in contact with air. In fact, the product don’t keep yourself ! No need to make larger quantities thinking of using it later. If you have any stain remover left, use it to treat other stubborn stains on a mattress or to remove stains from laundry (blood stains, ink stains, perspiration, mold, etc.)! It can also be used on other textiles (carpets, etc.).
