And what’s more, it’s very satisfying to cook like a little chemist and create a extremely effective formula from your kitchen!
Here, the combination of four basic ingredients makes it possible to overcome the most difficult dirt and stubborn stains: burnt food on the pan, oven rack or gratin dish, grease on the barbecue grill, oven tray or charred cooker… Nothing resists to this little homemade detergent that knows how to clean, degrease and remove stains!
A quick overview of its ingredients:
–Black soap : cleaner, stain remover and sanitizer
–Soda crystals (also called washing soda or soda ash): multi-purpose cleaner and degreaser
–Baking soda : cleaner, stain remover, antiseptic and slightly granular to remove dirt.
–Citrus essential oils : To more effectively descale and disinfect dishes (antiseptics).
Remember that the use of essential oils is not very ecological and must remain exceptional, hence the fact that they are optional in this recipe.
Now for the recipe for degreasing dishwashing liquid
The ingredients:
-50 cl of hot water
-2 tablespoons of liquid black soap
-2 tablespoons of soda crystals
-1 tablespoon of sodium bicarbonate
-Optional: 20 drops of citrus essential oil (lemon, grapefruit or orange essential oil)
-1 75 cl or 1 liter bottle (you can reuse an old dishwashing detergent bottle or opt for a glass bottle which will be easy to recycle in a zero waste approach)
The steps:
It doesn’t get any easier!
1) First, heat the water for a while.
2) Then, transfer it into your bottle, then add your ingredients one by one. Mix well between each addition to avoid lumps. Above all, use gloves when handling your soda crystals.
3) Once you have everything in the bottle, you can close it and give it a good shake. It’s ready!
Be aware that you will need to mix your homemade degreasing dishwashing liquid a little before each use. Certain ingredients may indeed have a tendency to sink to the bottom. Otherwise, in terms of use, we find the same actions as for the average dishwashing product. The advantage here is that you don’t need to use a lot of product for it to be effective. As a result, the bottle lasts a long time! In short, we are still looking for faults… 😉
